Tennessee Hills
02:54
|
|||
Well it’s southbound 81 through the Tennessee Line
And I blew through Bristol doin one hundred and nine
Till I get to where I’m going well I just can’t stop
I’m chasin that sun through the mountain tops
Oh them Tennessee hills babe
Oh gonna get my thrills
My baby’s been there for three whole days
She said I miss ya daddy in the worst kinda way
This city life is just plain bad luck
I packed all my shit into a 2-door pickup truck
Oh and I hit the road babe
Oh well I gotta go
Well we found a little cabin in a holler down low
Where the wind blows easy and the creek runs slow
Yeah you could try to find us but you never will
We ain’t never gonna leave these Tennessee Hills
Oh them Tennessee hills babe
Oh gonna get my thrills

Little River
03:31
|
|||
I don’t need a house
just to keep my soul in
I don’t need a car
Because I don’t know where I’m going
Guess I don’t know
Anything anymore
Aw don’t it show
With you walking right out my door
Little river ain’t that far
To keep me from going
Just this old guitar
Hell that’s all that I know
But I get high
I get higher than them Tennessee pines
And I won’t lie but I think I’m losing my mind
Well I get by with hopes and hot air
I get by with hopes and hot air
Well I said goodbye to you and kept my hand steady
Didn’t know what to do Lord knows I wasn’t ready
But time goes by and I never get no rest
So when I die throw roses atop my chest
Cause I get by with hopes and hot air
I get by with hopes and hot air

Oh Hell
03:48
|
|||
Well I felt every last one of them goddamn cigarettes
Standing in the kitchen alone at dawn with a feeling I’ll never forget
Tell me was it worth it
Was it worth the emptiness?
And if it weren’t, would you have the strength to tell?
Oh hell
My heart is racing wild and there’s a fire down in my chest
Demons scream inside my head when I would lay it down to rest
It was never worth it
It ain’t worth the emptiness
But I thank God that I have the breath to yell
Oh hell
A path of destruction and a road of recklessness
On a freight train runnin in the wrong direction to a life filled with regret
Brother it aint worth it
And I’d spare your pretty neck
And point you to a mountaintop afar
So darlin don’t jump in when the devil drives the car
When he pulls up to your corner in the middle of the night
Sayin’ he’s got something make you feel alright
You tell him fuck you devil you can drive straight back to hell
Cause ain’t nobody here buying what you have to sell
Oh hell oh hell oh hell oh hell oh hell oh hell
Well I felt every last one of them goddamn cigarettes
Standing in the kitchen alone at dawn with a feeling I’ll never forget
It was never worth it
It ain’t worth the emptiness
And I thank God that I have the breath to yell

Fighting For
02:18
|
|||
Well the first born son of a firstborn son had a firstborn son today
Nobody knows what this life holds but I guess maybe it’s better that way
Bringing a life into this world some days could feel like a curse
Sometimes I won’t know what to tell you my son seems like every day its getting worse
Steel your spine in this finite time and set a steady pace
Renew your mind cause this world ain’t right but we must finish the race
So pray and do not cease always seek peace but make ready for war
When our race is run and we put down our guns, that’s what we’re fighting for
So fix your eyes and set your jaw
Feel your heart beat keep it soft boy keep it raw
Refix your eyes and remember well we’re not of this place
Cause it’s not the law or anything you’ve done, son, it’s only grace
And then steel your spine
And then steel your spine
And then steel your spine in this finite time and set a steady pace
Renew your mind cause this world ain’t right but we must finish the race
So pray and do not cease always seek peace but make ready for war
When our race is run and we put down our guns, that’s what we’re fighting for

Bad News
02:20
|
|||
Bad news, bad news. It’s like the whole world’s got the blues
On every Phone, TV and computer screen and even certain gas pumps too
No matter where you turn seems all you learn is the world chalk full of bad news
Lotta folks these days all walking around with their heads looking down at their shoes
Work hard for the pay and go home everyday a little more battered and bruised
But the company’s had a real hell of year now so try not feel so used
Just turn the tube on at 5 it’ll help numb your mind and at 11 tune in for bad news
Bad news, bad news. Seems the whole world’s got the blues
Folks are mad in their cars, people sad at the bars - what the hell is there that I can do
Or is it fair thee well, the world’s going to hell in a basket full of bad news
Bad news when you wake up, bad news at lunch, bad news before you turn in to bed
Bad news to your eyes, bad news to yer ears, pretty soon gonna fill up your head
But it ain’t all bad the world ain’t so sad, sometimes the best thing to do
Is turn everything off and go walk outside, don’t focus on just the bad news
Bad news, it’s true. But there’s good news for me and you
And if we open our eyes and our hearts and our minds we might find a surprise or two
We might find us some love like a gift from above to help heal a world full of bad news
and that ain’t fake news

Richmond Town
03:04
|
|||
Well I am going back down to Richmond town
I am going back down in the morning
I am going back down to Richmond town
I am going back down in the morning
Going back down to Richmond town going back down for sure
Going back down to Richmond town tell my little honey now don't you know
Well for 10 long years Lord I walked about yes I rambled to that city
on a misty morning I left my home drinking on that moonshine whiskey
Well you drink a little shine, sing a little song
drink a little shine some more
drink a little shine one more time and you're waking up on the floor
Well I crossed great oceans and back again
but I knew that I'd been bested
for when I came home and I seen that girl
my tired spirit finally rested
From the Appalachian Mountains to the Atlantic coastal shore
I'm grateful for this place and Lord I will be ever more!
Going back down to Richmond town going back down for sure
Going back down to Richmond town tell my little honey now don't you know
Well I am going back down to Richmond town
I am going back down in the morning
I am going back down to Richmond town
I am going back down in the morning

Celebrate
03:28
|
|||
I know damn well I’m a sinner, I didn’t need you to tell me that
In fact I can be a real piece of shit sometimes
But the voice that I return to is the Word I heard in You
It breaks my heart, binds it up and leads me on
Always my love, forever found
At the endless depths of the crimson core
From whence we came and where we’re bound
Forever more forever more
And we’ll celebrate
Been keeping my cigarettes in the shed
The cold crawls up my boots and rests inside my head
Reckon this’ll carry on till I’m dead
No more to roam no more alone
Forever more forever home
And I’ll celebrate
This city’s built on of slaves
There’s native bones under the parking lots we pave
And nothing’s ever gonna fucking change
Unless we do inside our hearts
What we celebrate

Nobody
03:20
|
|||
I’m a nobody, nobody, I don’t care about nobody cares about
me buddy whoa buddy because I’m mean and I’m proud don’t you think
Well I’m the best looking fella ever walk this town
And I been chasing these women around
But only if they’re pretty and their feet don’t stink
Yeah that’s right that’s what I think but
I’m a nobody, nobody, I don’t care about--nobody cares about
me buddy whoa buddy because I’m mean and I’m proud don’t you think
Well I got more money than 10 swiss banks
I got more guns than the army has tanks
I got a big boat and she never will sink
Yeah that’s right that’s what I think but
I’m a nobody, nobody, I don’t care about--nobody cares about
me buddy whoa buddy because I’m mean and I’m proud don’t you think
Well I’ll always be young and I’ll always be strong
not like the rest of you dragging along
If you don’t believe me you should see me drink
Yeah that’s right that’s what I think but
I’m a nobody, nobody, I don’t care about--nobody cares about
me buddy whoa buddy because I’m mean and I’m proud don’t you think
Well it took me years to get me here. No more girls and no beer
Now I’m alone with all of my fears and I don’t know what to think except that
I’m a nobody, nobody, I don’t care about--nobody cares about
me buddy whoa buddy because I’m mean and I’m proud yeah
I’m a nobody, nobody, I don’t care about--nobody cares about
me buddy whoa buddy because I’m mean and I’m proud don’t you think

Hauling Grass
03:27
|
|||
Well I’m rolling down the highway
Heading South on 81
I’m doin this my way
My baby’s riding shotgun
Well we packed it in the wheel wells
We’re makin pretty good time
My mama didn’t raise a criminal
But daddy didn’t make a dime
And I’m tired of waiting on the world to change
Still work my job but man that dont pay
And now mama’s sick and so we need the cash
So I’m headin down Bristol just haulin grass
But I know how the cops work
Gonna make it alright
But I ain’t speedin I ain’t stupid
And I ain’t lookin for a fight
Just tired of waiting on the world to change
40 hours a week and no livable wage
If mama won’t sick man, I wouldn’t a dared
But now I’m headin down to Bristol Lord I’m halfway there
Told mama not to worry
Said I’ll be back in a flash
But then she said “Whats the hurry?
Son why you talking so fast?”
I’m just tired of waiting on the world to change
Tired of unloading trucks for fucking minimum wage
And I did the math it’ll take three runs
We can pay that bill and then I swear I’m done
Maybe we’ll all move out of Stuarts Draft
No more driving to Bristol just haulin grass
